Verdi’s is one of the most popular works in the classical repertoire.  It was composed in memory of the nationalist Italian writer Alessandro Manzoni.  Verdi’s only often played non operatic piece, it is nevertheless an immensely operatic and dramatic work. Daniel Barenboim will be conducting the Requiem with the La Scala Orchestra and Chorus and a stellar group of soloists - Anja Harteros, Jonas Kaufmann, Elina Garanča and René Pape.  Undoubtedly this performance will show off the acoustic qualities of the KKL Luzern Concert Hall to perfection.
