For over 50 years Granada has been host to one of the most prestigious music festivals in Europe. Renowned for the beauty of its settings, it makes extensive use of the Alhambra, the city's landmark monument. The Festival's success is also due to an imaginative direction and the commitment of performers of world-class calibre. The balmy nights of early July are perfect for the open-air concerts, held in the Moorish and Castilian palaces and gardens of the Alhambra; the sound of cicadas and the scent of jasmine and myrtle providing an evocative backdrop to some outstanding music and dance. Tickets for this Festival are some of the most elusive in Europe and this year we are organising a four night visit with three performances, staying in Granada.
Our tour includes guided visits of Granada, including the Sacromonte, the gypsy quarter, a guided visit of the Alhambra Palaces, a full day excursion to Alpujarras an outstandingly beautiful mountain range with tiny villages and what many consider to be some of the most stunning countryside in Spain.
Hotel: We stay in the Hotel Villa Oniria which is located in the city centre of Granada, just 5 minutes' walk to the cathedral. It provides a luxurious place to escape, in traditional Andalucian palatial architecture. The spacious rooms are set over two floors, with a refined decoration and studied ambiance. There is a small and well-appointed garden, full of aromatic plants, leading onto a beautiful inner patio, and a fine restaurant.
