This tour starts in the dynamic city of Sydney, with the natural beauty of its harbour, beaches and national parks, and the instantly recognisable icons of the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.  After five days in Sydney, with excursions including a full tour to the Hunter Valley vineyards, you then travel to Cairns in Tropical North Queensland for a cruise of the Great Barrier Reef.  On the cruise you will discover an incredible underwater world which will be revealed to you at the numerous exclusive reef sites.

This is a Personal Choice private tour, organised for two people travelling together.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive in Sydney and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2 – Morning city tour including the historic Rocks area, views of the Sydney Opera house and Harbour Bridge, trendy Oxford Street and elegant Paddington.  Then to the Pacific Ocean and Bondi Beach.  Board a Harbour Cruise and enjoy lunch on board.  The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 3 - There will be a guided tour of Sydney’s famous Opera House this morning.  Return for a performance this evening (subject to availability).

Day 4 – Full day excursion to the Hunter Valley, one of Australia’s first wine producing areas.  Lunch is included at one of the vineyards..

Day 5 – There is a free day to explore the city.  Full details are available of tours which can be pre-booked for you.

Day 6 – Leave Sydney and fly to Cairns.  Transfer for the Great Barrier Reef Cruise.

Day 7 – On our cruise we visit one of the remote uninhabited islands.  Continue to Cooktown and visit the Historical Museum..

Day 8 – Visit to Lizard Island.  There will be an opportunity to climb the peak, as Cook did in 1770, and to enjoy the spectacular views.

Day 9 – The day is spent exploring Ribbon Reef No. 3 and Rachel Carson Reef.  You will have the choice of enjoying a guided snorkelling tour or joining the Marine Biologist aboard the glass-bottomed boat..

Days 10 – Arrive back in Cairns and transfer to the airport for your flight.

Travel: Travel to Australia is not included, nor is the internal flight between Sydney and Cairns.  We can book your flights for you and will search for the best price available at that time. All flights booked by us must be paid for at the time of booking.
